Borrowing Benefits
DVD 4: Betty
This DVD includes the use of several different EFT approaches, which are:
1. Movie Technique
2. Gary tapping on the client
3. Sneaking up on the problem
4. Constricted breathing/ a fluid approach
5. Reframes
Betty presented with the issue of not being able to push herself forward. At the beginning of the DVD, Gary and Betty tell the story about how they know each other and how she ended up on the stage as a volunteer. She cites some examples that give more detail about her problem, which Gary then labels as rejection. Gary then taps through emphasising the fact that she wants EVERYONE to like her. He uses humour and points that illumunate the fact that no one is liked by everyone, since each of us have different ways of thinking etc.
Throughout the DVD, Gary uses non rigid forms of EFT. He taps on the client, using points from the top of the head through to the under arm position. Often when setting up he misses out the affirmation part of the set-up, other times maybe saying it once, before tapping through the points. He also uses the approach of starting at the top of the head and going though the points, saying the affirmation mid flow in the sequence.
Due to the intensity of the client's issues he taps through without any reminder phrases at some points. He uses the Movie technique and a non rigid form of the constricted breathing technique. Both of these techniques being used to minimise any client discomfort.
For the benefit of the audience at the beginning of the therapy he starts by sneaking up on the problem and using a very global statement to take the edge off the issues.
